Reasons to hate the Judeo-Christian God (Featuring Elisha and the she-bears)

2 Kings 2:23-24
“23 From there Elisha went up to Bethel.
As he was walking along the road,
some boys came out of the town and jeered at him.
“Get out of here, baldy!” they said. “Get out of here, baldy!”
24 He turned around, looked at them and called down a curse
on them in the name of the LORD.
Then two she bears came out of the woods
and mauled forty-two of the boys.”

I understand your ire, but I think if you do a bit more digging there is far more to this story than at first meets the eye. I struggled with it too and found that there is a very poor traditonal translation into English, which makes it sound like a massacre at a kindregarten, when it is likely that it is much or akin the motorcyclist gang member who got injured when they try to drag a driver out of his car.
You may just be venting spleen, which is fair enough, but if you are interested in knowing more then I could give you some pointers that helped me.

    • Alright, how is calling an old man bald akin to trying to drag a man out of his car; how is everyone getting mauled by bears akin to one guy getting hurt; and how are boys–not men, boys, which implies that they are in early puberty at most–in any way akin to motorcycle gang members?

And what is this “better translation” that makes it sound less heinous?

That’s called cognitive dissonance, sir. When something doesn’t fit your idea of religion you make it fit(what you did up there) or ignore it altogether.

      You’re welcome.
