“Cougars” (old women who seek sex from young men)

What does society call old men
who seek-out young women to objectify sexually?
Sexually-deranged deviants.

So for the sake of equality,
I will refer to cougars, invariably,
as sexually-deranged deviants,
because that is what they would be,
if they were not penis-less.

Whenever I think of those “cougars”,
I think of burnt-out, would-be mini-tyrants,
who can no longer, by coquetry,
evoke overt self-deprecation,
not even in sexually retarded men.

Her impatience has peaked,
outpacing even her pretension
of being a prize.
THAT is a cougar.

Now a hollow gaze hides a hollow soul–
hides her hollowed prize
that can no longer be sold.
And she plays-it-off as “empowering”,
as she settles for being settled for.

No young man wants a cougar.
Cougars remind young men of death.

Still, many men will settle for you cougars;
but this they soon will regret,
because you are gross to them.

Cougars are gross to young men.

    Expect to pass through this world but once;
So any good thing you can do,
    Any kindness you can show,
Do it now: do not defer or neglect it.
You shall not pass this way again.

You have this written at the top of your blog, but I have to say I haven’t seen much kindness so far in reading your posts. Maybe remember this quote you seem to value so highly before you decide to write such misogynistic bullshit as you spew in this post.

      Hi Lindsey,
Thanks for taking the time to give your point-of-view.

      Here are my responses:

“I have to say I havenโ€™t seen much kindness so far in reading your posts.”

If you have specifics then we can talk specifics; for now, I just disagree ๐Ÿ˜€

“Maybe remember this quote you seem to value so highly before you decide to write such misogynistic bullshit as you spew in this post.”

I will bet you one apologetic response that you cannot point to even a single misogynistic statement on my website ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi Russ,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment.

I’m not quite sure if this is a satirical blog?? I ask this because I don’t see many posts (at least of the several that I have read) that do not include one or more derogatory remarks/generalizations about women.

I’m not going to rewrite all of your material that is clearly misogynistic (because that would take a while), but if you want some specifics, I would say that the piece you wrote about “cougars” provides a very good example of what I am talking about.

Overall, the main message of this post seems to be that older women who date younger men are not looked down upon or characterized as “sexually deranged deviants” as older men who date younger women are in our society. I would say that the fact that you are using the term “cougar”, which is derogatory itself and has a predatory connotation, disproves the entire point of this post. If women are not looked down upon for dating significantly younger men, then why is there a derogatory term that refers to women in exactly this situation??

Please let me know if I am missing the point of your blog.

      Hi Lindsey,
I would completely disagree that “cougar” is necessarily–or even typically–a derogatory term. Moreover, to attach a “predatory connotation” to the word would be fitting; HOWEVER, to attach a negative connotation to women who prey on men–this does not follow: such women are “hip,” “progressive,” etc. Try to find even a single use of the term “cougar” as dersion. I bet that you cannot. But I can show you plenty depictions of cougars as cool ๐Ÿ˜‰

      For instance:

I don’t know what you think my blog is, so I don’t know if you’re missing the point.
And certainly do not rewrite all the material that is “clearly misogynistic”–just reference even a single thing, and I will remove it. That goes for as many clearly misogynistic things that you can find ๐Ÿ˜‰
